Tal riot

From VestiWiki

A riot on 4/24/2004. It started when Tal-IGN once failed a markup and a screenshot got posted on the Vesti. Since Tal got owned, he decided to strike back by posting it over and over again as sticky threads to block out the entire first page. However, he got out of breath and never completed it.

In the meantime, yab also rioted with "If Tal can riot, so can I". and got demodded for about 10 minutes.

Timeline

An account of this riot as given by Pricyber in this thread:

4:15 p.m. PST - A swarm of duplicated sticky threads start to invade the Vestibule. It is not known at this time if a hacker created the threads or if the threads were created from a forum bug. General Vesti members start the beginning phase of rioting and chief moderator, yab, knows it is too big to control himself. He gives in to the darkside as without the buttseckz power of Tal, he would only fail at attempting to moderate the forum.

4:18 p.m. PST - The number of duplicated sticky threads doubles itself, now taking over about half the front page of the Vestibule.

4:27 p.m. PST - It is approximately at this time that reports being that yab has been demodded and banned. Stripped of his colors and moderator status, I could still access his profile page while others claim they cannot.

4:30 p.m. PST - First signs of evidence that the Vestibule has been hacked start as User TruBalla20 through TruBalla27 begin to flood the front page of the board all at once.

4:34 p.m. PST - Punk_Monkey enters the battlefields and starts to lay the smack down on all rioters.

4:40 p.m. PST - It is around this time yab regains moderator status.

4:42 p.m. PST - The Vestibule has been cleaned of all the sticky threads, presumably by Tal. Things start to become normal once again.

4:42 p.m. PST - Participants and witnesses of the riots become emotional after the rioting comes to an end.

4:44 p.m. PST - Yab isn't the only moderator who would've gave into the darkside and take part in the rioting.

4:51 p.m. PST - The Vestibule has become a private board so moderators could presumably clean up the mess from the riots.

4:52 p.m. PST - Vestibule regulars start to flood the Board Issues forum for answers on the Vestibule's disappearance.

4:55 p.m. PST - The Vestibule returns to public board status, Tal has since then sent in 20 additional moderators armed with high powered ultra wacking ban sticks.
